Chet, I'm glad that Jack's interview brought you over to the site. As for the rest of your lectures, I respect what you believe, but I'm sticking to my agree to disagree policy. If it makes ya feel better, I've been called biblically illiterate before--will be again. Take care.

Tim,
 Yes, your interviews are "friendly".
Oh, thanks for responding to me. I had expected another reader.
Another mistake: if a god or a supreme being (again, any one can imagine a perfect supreme being) actually exists and had influence, why hasn't there been just "one" god or goddess for all Homo sapiens or Homo neanderthals, or Homo erectus, etc? Why did the Ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Assyrians, Isaraelites, Persians, Chines, Mayan, etc., all have gods/goddesses/spirits/demigods....? Because they could imagine them.
But, if there was a god, well, it could only be gods: god, satan, jesus christ, holy spirit, krishna, brama, and then angels, demons....
E=m*c*c is all that is needed.... and imagination.

You could also email me, too.
Yes, I have an attitude about "religious".
We Homo sapiens are not the only sentient species on this planet, a water world. We inhabit one planet in this solar system amongst possible and probable billions of others in this galaxy amongst billions of other galaxies in Universe.
Yes, we can imagine and do create gods/goddesses in our image; and, gargols, griffins, demons, devils, flying horses, talking donkees, trolls, mermaids, fairies, ghosts, werewolves, angels, etc.. There aren't any!
As I stated earlier, faith and belief in imaginary beings is a problem for me.

Tim
 There isn't/aren't any god(s). I learned that in 1970.
I came across your blog from the Jack McDevitt webpage. He listed your interview with him. Thereon, I decided to browse some of your interviews.
You also seem to be biblically illiterate. There are many gods mentioned.
I am not religious in any manner!
Again, created by our biological parents. Most fertilizations do not result in a viable preganacy. Many pregancies are miscarriages. Just biology. Anyone exists after they are born. Cease to exist at death.

Chet:

Pace yourself, please.

I'm curious how you found out about my blog.

I imagine you're not going to enjoy reading my blog very much in the long run, given my faith.

In my life I've known many fine folks who did not believe in God, religion or spirituality of any kind. And we respectfully agreed to disagree. If they contact me in a downtime, I don't offer to pray for them. I tell them I will think good thoughts. That's the kind of guy I am.

But a majority of folks I know are religious in some manner.

I don't preach, I don't try to convert people to my way of thinking. THAT I consider to be a waste of both of ours time. I interview folks to get their perspective. Sometimes they happen to be folks that discuss their religion.

And I interview in a friendly manner.

The comments you've submitted so far convey a certain tone. A dismissive tone that does not convey respect for folks that are religious. Disagree with folks, but if you want to comment on my blog, respect the opinions of these complete strangers that you do not know, please.

I've approved your comments so far because I don't want to be close-minded.

But I'm not looking to turn this or any comments section on my blog into an exchange of ideas between religious and non-religious folks.

Some religious folks may try to cram their opinions down your throat. I do not. I prefer to agree to disagree.

There were no "Jesus's". "Jesus" is Greek for the Hebrew "Jehu". There were thousands of men named Jehu during the Second Temple era. I am sure that some Hebrew men named "Jehu" were crucified- a horrible way to die. NONE RESURRECTED.
"Christ" is Greek for the Hebrew "Messiah" which meant "the annointed one". All Hebrew kings were "Messiahs".

Unfortunately for Jack, and those similar, "Jesus Christ" did not die for anyone's sins--St Paul created him. He's imaginary.
And what of the tens of thousands of other Hebrews that were tortured and crucified by the Romans? The "cross" was a terror weapon!
Nope, sorry, "The Christ" was created by Paul and other evangelicals during and after the Hebrew-Roman Wars.
 Completed biblically illiterate.

I hope & pray, that Mr. Cohen knows how to make a perfect act of contrition: No one should ever consider mocking Jesus Christ: Who died for our sins at calvary: Through an invalid confession!
