So Long: NYT’s Paper Cuts Standalone Blog

As noted at Galleycat today, the New York Times has folded its book blog, Paper Cuts, into its ArtsBeat blog.

That saddens me in a sense, but to be honest, I had not visited the site as of late and it seems that I was not alone. Hopefully as part of the ArtsBeat gang it can regrow the audience that it deserves.

Missed Last Week: Joe Sacco’s Playlist

Footnotes in Gaza

Footnotes in Gaza

Many folks may already be aware of it, but if you are not–Paper Cuts (the NY Times literature blog) features an author offering his or her musical playlist on a weekly basis, in its Living with Music feature. It’s a great concept that I look forward to reading every week.

I meant to mention this when it first appeared, but am now catching up on things. Graphic novelist/journalist Joe Sacco was featured last week–and I have to say I never would have pegged him for a Wings fan. Be sure to also look into Sacco’s latest work, Footnotes in Gaza.

Podcast: New York Times Book Review

Book Review Podcast

Book Review Podcast

What could be better than reading the New York Times Book Review? Or Paper Cuts, the NY Times book blog? Listening to the Book Review podcast, of course.

For the week of October 23, the show covers “Jonathan Lethem, author of Chronic City; Frank Bruni on a new biography of Elizabeth Taylor; Motoko Rich with notes from the field; and Gregory Cowles with best-seller news. [Book Review Editor] Sam Tanenhaus is the host.”

The show started back to April 2006. I may try to point out some gems from the archives in the coming weeks and months. Be sure to share your own discovered gems from here, there or anywhere–in the comments section.
