Paying Tribute to Levon Helm As He Enters Final Cancer Stages
Posted by admin in Music, Uncategorized on April 17, 2012
Today, Levon Helm’s daughter and wife (Amy and Sandy) posted the following message on his website:
Dear Friends,
Levon is in the final stages of his battle with cancer. Please send your prayers and love to him as he makes his way through this part of his journey.Thank you fans and music lovers who have made his life so filled with joy and celebration… he has loved nothing more than to play, to fill the room up with music, lay down the back beat, and make the people dance! He did it every time he took the stage…
We appreciate all the love and support and concern.
To celebrate him as he is still with us, I share a couple of things.
Jimmy Fallon As The Doors’ Jim Morrison

I was going to post to a game show sketch (from early this AM) involving Jimmy Fallon, the Muppets & Michael Stipe originally. But then I saw this: Jimmy Fallon as The Doors’ Jim Morrison doing the theme to the old PBS show, Reading Rainbow.
Added bonus, comments include a supposed endorsement by Doors surviving member, John Densmore, as well as someone who appreciates the fact that Fallon’s people reproduced the set from The Doors’ Ed Sullivan Show appearance.
Missed It: Lyle Lovett’s Austin City Limits Landmark Show
Posted by admin in Music, streaming video on February 5, 2011
So back in November 2010, Austin City Limits said goodbye to its original studio of 36 years (to move into new digs). And they said goodbye with a Lyle Lovett show. I missed the broadcast of it last week, but fortunately it’s online now.

Shows to Watch: Framed (Masterpiece Contemporary)

Thanks to Netflix, awhile back I found out about the British TV series, Waking the Dead, which is aptly described (by Netflix) as “a British version of CSI”. The show stars Trevor Eve, as Detective Superintendent Peter Boyd. My wife and I are fans of Eve’s acting, so I was bummed to realize I missed the most recent installment of Masterpiece Contemporary, starring Eve. Depending on your PBS affiliate, Framed, may be rebroadcast in the next week or so. If not, fortunately you can watch the film (in which “London’s National Gallery stores its entire art collection in a Welsh village mine”) online. Below is the first chapter of the 90-minute show.
Watch the full episode. See more Masterpiece.
Thanks to Ron Hogan for making me aware of this particular Masterpiece Contemporary episode and that it was available online.
