Rob Reiner Answers Facebook Questions

This video, part of the Academy Conversations on Facebook, proves I can watch Rob Reiner doing anything. Someone in the Oscars social media department (or heck maybe it was Reiner himself) decided it would be a good idea to film him standing up in his office. So while getting to hear Reiner opine on various subjects (including an interest in a Spinal Tap sequel)–as great as that is–it is not so great to look up Reiner’s nose. You may disagree.

Really, it’s awkward. Funny, but awkward.

Nathan Lane on Tuesday’s David Letterman

I love when Letterman facilitates bits like this one (From this week’s Tuesday night’s episode).

And while I feel bad for Sean Young’s personal struggles, I have to admit Lane’s joke early in this snippet is a good one. And Young clearly wanted this incident in the news, for whatever reason.

Remembering John Hughes

John Hughes died two years ago today. To observe this sad anniversary, I offer a link to the 2010 Oscars tribute to him (unfortunately Oscars blocked embedding) and also a 1991 tribute to him, when he was named  Producer of the Year by the National Association of Movie Theater Owners.

Where Have I Been?

Well to be honest, Saturday was my birthday, so I was swamped offline for a good part of the day.

That being said, I’ve decided to join my friends over at Blog@Newsarama, as a regular contributor with its Quote, Unquote column. Here is my first installment.

Then tonight, I decided to lurk in the comments section of PopSmart (Creative Loafing Atlanta’s A&E blog) while they liveblogged the Oscars. It was the most fun I ever had watching the Oscars, honestly. An I got to learn more about a local indie movie theater and a filmmaker while talking with fellow commenters.

I’m unsure how well I will keep doing the third post of the week on the blog. Of course, as the readers, I understand if you say to yourself: “I’m unsure how well I’ll come by to read your blog, pal.” But rest assured, I will always have an interview up by late Monday evening and a post on Wednesday. The Saturday post is slowly morphing into a “sometime during the weekend” timed post. But hopefully my thoughts while late, will still interest.
